The British Are Leaving! The British Are Leaving!

OK, maybe not as memorable as Longfellow's rendition of "The British are coming! The British are coming!" -- what Paul Revere supposedly yelled in the lead-up to what became the war between the American colonies and England in 1775.

But what does it say that Tony Blair, the Prime Minister in Great Britain, announced today that he is beginning to withdraw his troops from southern Iraq -- and that President Bush is still insisting upon sending more than 21,000 US troops into Baghdad?

I dunno, but there are a number of caveats in Blair's potential withdrawal. Also, Australia's keeping their 7,000 in place.

I thought some other country was holding fast, too, but it's hard to keep track of who's part of the supposed "coalition of the willing"... and why.

I cannot help but wondering if there is a coincidence in timing: Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, may soon be shipped out to Iraq -- and the PM wants to bring the boys (and girls!) home.
